He is currently free on a $5000.00 bond. this case is being presented to grand jury this week.

On 05/25/2011 Saturday Nathan Harold Williams age 42 of 57 CR 8050 Booneville was arrested and charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Meth). He has been released on a $25,000 bond. He and another individual had been arrested in Alcorn County the middle of last week after a Traffic Stop led to their arrests on Drug Charges in Alcorn County. Further investigation led to Williams residence on Cr 8050 Booneville where a Meth lab was discovered.

Tracye Ann Thomas aka Tracye Ann Whitlow age 34 of 1011 CR 261 Blue Springs was arrested 06/22/2011 by Prentiss County Investigators after a month long investigation concerning the theft of personal checks belonging to a Senior Citizen from Baldwyn and the forgery and cashing of those checks. Thomas's boyfriend is presently in jail in Lee County on unrelated charges. Once he is released from Lee County, he will be transferred to Prentiss County to face charges. Thomas entered the victims house on the pretext of running out of gas. She stole the checks and returned later asking to use the bathroom and then reportedly stole the whole checkbook. Several of the checks were cashed in Baldwyn and one in Mooreville. She is charged with multiple counts of Forgery, Uttering a Forgery and Conspiracy to Commit Forgery. Her bond is set at $25,000 and she remains in custody.

"I want to caution everyone about allowing people into your homes, like this instance. Even when you are trying to be helpful to someone, there is always someone ready to take advantage of people's willingness to help others. I'm not advocating not helping others but be extremely aware of what is going on around you and never leave someone unattended in your home or allow them to move freely about in your house."

On Mother's Day Sunday 05/08/2011 Prentiss County Narcotics Investigators and Deputies in cooperation with the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit based out of Tupelo executed a search warrant at 667 HWY 145 at Frankstown, just south of Booneville. The search revealed a Methamphetamine Lab and some finished product. The following two individuals were arrested; 1) Mark A Mills age 46 of 312 East Lovelace Road Booneville who was charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) and Possession of Methamphetamine, his bond was set at $35,000 2) Timothy N Applegate age 45 of 4 CR 206 Burnsville was Charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine, his bond was set at $25,000. Both have been released on bond at this time. This was a great job on everyone part and helps us send a clear message to Drug Dealers and Those the Manufacture such drugs.

On 05/05/2011 Prentiss County Investigators arrested Ronnie Lee Jones and charged him with Grand Larceny in regards to the theft of a purse and contents. The incident occurred several days before the arrest. Some of the property was recovered. His bond was set at $10,000 and he was released on bond 05/09/2011. His case will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury.

On 05/09/2011 Gary Wayne Woolridge age 29 of 820 CR 115 New Albany was arrested and charged with multiple counts of Uttering a Forged Instrument. His bond was set at $25,000. He has been released on bond. Woolridge had been working as a Corrections Officer with the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office for several years. The incident was discovered when a relative reported that his account had insufficient funds to cover his checks. The relative was in the military and had stored his belongs at Woolridge's residence, while on deployment. Other checks had been passed in Itawamba, Lee and Union Counties. The incident was originally reported to the Itawamba Sheriff's Office. Upon issuance of an arrest warrant from Itawamba, we initiated an investigation that led to these charges.

On Friday May 27th 2011 at 10am until 2pm, The Prentiss County TRIAD in cooperation with the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office will sponsor the 10th Annual TRIAD Senior Citizens Appreciation Day at the Family Life Center of the First United Methodist Church in Booneville, located behind the Baptist Memorial Hospital. We will have entertainment by Special Guests Kay Bain, Tonya Finch and Roy Chandler. There will be food for everyone and plenty of Great door prizes with enough to go around for everyone. We invite everyone to come out and help up honor our Senior Citizens. The Prentiss County TRIAD and The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office have held this event for ten years now. Each year we have grown in attendance. The first few years we held the event at Ray's Place at the Hobo Station until we outgrew that facility and then moved to the West Side Community Center and Three of Four years ago outgrew the Community Center and we were then given the opportunity to hold the function at it's present location, the 1st United Methodist Church Family Life Center. We are very appreciative for have such a fine location. Help us get the word out to every individual, and any Senior Group or Church Group that might want to attend. The TRIAD was formed to help provided a better quality of life for our Senior Citizens and to give them the resources to make their lives safer. We have done this by providing 911 signs, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers. We also have held group meeting to educate our Senior Citizens about home safety, scams and personal protection. This is a worthy cause and there will be many vendors present with information and details about a variety of subject matters that might pertain to Senior Citizens.

A Narcotics Investigation in Prentiss County led to the arrest of three individuals on drug charges. On 04/15/2011 Friday night, Narcotics Investigators discovered a working Meth lab at 1 CR 1123 Booneville. Three individuals were present, but one of them fled the location and was apprehended several days later. Deputies arrested Andrew Scott Franklin age 19 of 100 August Circle Apts # 2B Booneville and Samuel Lee Howell 42 239 CR 1101 Booneville at the scene and on 04/21/2011 Thursday arrested Joshua David Wilemon 20 of 1 CR 1123 Booneville. Wilemon ran from the Officers the night of the incident but was apprehended this past Thursday. All three were charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine). Howell and Franklin's bond was set at $5,000. Howell has been released on bond. Franklin remains in custody and Wilemon's bond has not been set at this time. Investigators discovered the working lab along with approx. a gram of finished product..

Prentiss County Deputy Sheriff Keith Lovell made a traffic stop on HWY 4 West on Monday night of 04/18/2001 that resulted in the felony arrest of Dewayne L Hodges 42 of 218 Elmwood Dr Ripley. Hodges was charged with Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance being over an ounce of Marijuana. Deputies also seized $1,173.00 in cash, US Currency. His bond was set $10,000 He was released on bond 04/19/2011.

A joint undercover narcotics investigation came to a conclusion this past week after Investigators and Officers arrested the last of several suspects involved in the illegal sale and possession of pharmaceutical drugs. The following are five of the suspects that were charged through the County. Arrested 04/08 was Charles Trent Prater 28 of 201 Caldwell Dr Booneville was charged with Sale, Transfer, Delivery of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $10,000 but is being has a hold placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections,04/01 Billy Windham 44 of 107 Rosewood Drive Booneville was charged with Sale, Transfer or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $10,000 but MDOC also has a hold on him. 04/04 Jackie Sims 55 of 992 HWY 30 East Booneville was charged with Sale, Transfer, Delivery or Possess with the intent to Sell Transfer of Deliver a Controlled Substance. His bond was set at $5,000. He was freed on bond the following day. 04/08 Kathleen May Jones 48 was charged with Sale, Transfer, Delivery or Possession with the intent to sell, transfer of deliver a Controlled Substance. Her bond was set at $5,000. She made bond 04/10. 04/07 Cindy Regina Grisham 289 CR 1251 Booneville was charged with Sale, Transfer, or Delivery of a Controlled Substance. Her bond was set at $10,000 but MDOC has a hold on her.
These arrested along with the three arrested made by the City of Booneville emphasis the cooperation between local Law Enforcement in regards to Narcotics Enforcement. This undercover operation hopefully will slow down some of the Pharmaceutical abuse in this area. I am so proud of both Joey Clark and Booneville Narcotics Investigator Josh Davis. They work as a team and in cooperation with and using the resources provided by North Mississippi Narcotics Unit made this possible.

Attached is a photo of a Honda 450 Four Wheeler and three saddles that have been recovered by the Sheriff's Office recently. The Four Wheeler was recovered in Tippah County shortly after the theft and the saddles were recovered a couple of weeks ago. No arrests have been made at this time. The theft occurred at a farm located on CR 7081 in December. On 03/25/2011 Thursday Night early Friday morning, Prentiss County Deputy David Berrios made a traffic stop on West of Booneville that resulted in the discovery of 133 bags of Marijuana with a total weight of almost 1 pound. The Deputy arrested Jay Edgar Helton of 1319 HWY 9 North Guntown, age 20. He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Marijuana) with the intent to sell or distribute. His bond was set at $10,000. He was released on bond later the same day. It was determined through our investigation that Helton was a student at Northeast Mississippi Community College and had been supplying other students. This was a major arrest, anytime we can arrest someone that was selling this quantity of drugs and also selling to students. I hope this sends a clear message to others that might try the same thing. I am very pleased with this arrest and the Investigating Officers did an outstanding job. In addition to the bags of marijuana Investigators also seized cash and other evidence of his drug dealings.

On Thursday 03/24/2011 Prentiss Deputies arrested Wesley John Weatherbee age 45 of 38B CR 8200 Rienzi and charged him with Possession of Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine)(ICE). Ice is a more pure form of Methamphetamine. Weatherbee was arrested after a traffic stop on HWY 4 west revealed that he was in possession of the controlled substance. His bond was set at $5,000 and he was released the following day on bond.

On 03/20/2011 Sunday Jeremy Arnold age 28 of 574 CR 5031 Booneville was arrested and charged with Felony taking of a Motor Vehicle pertaining to an incident that occurred several months ago where two other individuals were also arrested previously for taking a vehicle that didn't belong to them and taking it to a scrap yard and selling it to be crushed as salvage. Arnold's is being held without bond due to a previous indictment from Alcorn County. He also is facing numerous other misdemeanor charges in Prentiss County.

On Friday March 11th the arrest of a illegal alien, Jose Martinez age 34 of #3 Oasis Apartments HWY 45 North Booneville was arrested after an undercover operation involving the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office, Booneville Police Department and North Mississippi Narcotics. Undercover Officers had allegedly made purchases of Cocaine from the suspect. A search warrant was executed Friday at the suspects apartment. Investigators discovered 3.5 grams of powder Cocaine and $1,140 in US Currency. Martinez is charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine) with intent to sell and Sale of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine). He is being held at the present time with No Bond. He had given Investigators several bogus names before he was properly identified. Investigators contacted ICE concerning the suspects illegal immigration status and they will be placing a hold on him, once these charges are disposed of. The Officers in this case did a wonderful job.

On 03/11/2011 Prentiss County Investigators received the report of a Burglary that occurred on CR 6100 just out side the City limits of Baldwyn. Investigators worked throughout the day and night investigating the crime and subsequently arrested two individuals and charged them when the burglary. Investigators in cooperation with The Tupelo Police Department, who assisted our Investigators in locating the suspects and stolen property. All the stolen property was recovered from one of the suspects vehicles, which included Two flat panel TVs, a handgun, a laptop computer and other electronics. The following two individuals were arrested by Investigators Friday night and transported to Prentiss County: Bryson Jamal Whitfield age 20 of 1005 Rockefeller Ave Tupelo charged with Burglary and Larceny $5,000 Bond, was released on bond Sat. Lapisces Panzetta Shelley age 22 of 238 South Second Street Baldwyn Charged with Burglary and Larceny and Conspiracy to commit Burglary and Larceny her bond was set at $10,000 and was also released Sat on Bond The Investigator handling the case did an outstanding job taking the leads he developed and pursuing it until the culmination of the case.

03/01/2011 Tuesday night just after 9pm we got a call from Wheeler concerning a suspicious Black man dressed in a hoodie (hooded coat) coming out of a vacant house by the Methodist Church and he was carrying a big stick. The two Deputies on duty were working a wreck east of Marietta near the Natchez Trace. Reed Sparks, a Reserve Deputy heard the call on the scanner and responded from his home to the call. In the meantime we received a second call from another caller that the individual was banging on their door. When Sparks arrived the individual had already left that residence and was walking down the street. Deputy Sparks proceeded down the street shining his spotlight and located the individual. Once the Officer got the individuals attention, the individual approached the Officer who was still seated in his patrol vehicle. The Officer instructed the person to step back away from his vehicle. The individual took a couple steps back and started forcefully (with both hands) thrusting the stick, which was sharpened on one end through the patrol vehicles open window striking Deputy Sparks several times . in the side of the face, casing a puncture wound and abrasions. Deputy Sparks managed to get to a canister of pepper spray he had in his coat pocket and spray the individual, giving him enough time to force the door open, pushing the person away from the vehicle. Once Officer Sparks was outside the vehicle the subject produced a knife. At some point the individual ran around to the passengers side of the patrol vehicle and got in the passengers side attempting to put the shifter in drive. Sparks returned to the driver side with weapon in hand and attempted to cut off the ignition and remove the keys. The individual then began trying to stab Deputy Sparks. During the struggle Deputy Sparks firearm discharged. At that point the person fell back out of the vehicle. Deputy Sparks was able to call for back up at one point. When Sparks got around to the passengers side of the vehicle the individual began striking Deputy Sparks with the stick while holding the knife in his other hand The Deputy was able to subdue the individual about the same time several backup Officers had arrived from their respective homes. The individual was uninjured, Sparks was treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital for his injuries. The man was a young man from Guntown with no past criminal record in his 20's. He was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer and his Bond was set at $150,000. He remains in custody. This was a serious attack on this Officer that could have easily resulted in the Officers death or more serious injury. Deputy Sparks used great restraint It was a surprise attack with the Officer having no forewarning, while he was simply checking out a suspicious person. It goes to show how dangerous it is for Law Enforcement Officers everywhere, even in rural Prentiss County Mississippi. It was in March 1999 when Deputy Micheal Hisaw lost his life under very similar circumstances.

On 02/25/2011 Kristen Nicole Pounds 19 of 504 CR 4101 Booneville and Terry Joe Prater 22 of 201 Caldwell Road were arrested by a Prentiss County Reserve Deputy in the Thrasher Community. Authorities had been searching for them during the investigation of the theft of a Pickup stolen that was taken in mid Jan. 2011. During the process of the arrest and booking, Pounds was discovered to have two syringes in her possession that contained a controlled substance. Prater is being held on a $5,000 bond on a Grand Larceny Charge Prater was also charged with an unrelated Burglary that occurred in the City limits, his bond was set at $10,000 on that charge. Pounds has two $10,000 bonds on two unrelated Possession of Controlled Substance Charges, the one mentioned above and another previous incident, in which she had not been charged. She has a $5,000 bond on the Grand Larceny Charge related to the theft of the Truck. The later part of last week Pounds had plead guilty to Forgery charges in Prentiss County Circuit Court and had been sentenced to Probation under Non Adjudication. This meant, if she had successfully completed her probation, she would not have had a felony record. She is being held pending, her going back in front of the Judge.

The Truck was not recovered. It had been taken to a salvage yard and crushed.

ON 12/15/2010 Rick Joseph Lawson age 38 of 49 CR 7149 Booneville was arrested and charged with Sale of Methamphetamine. The arrest took place near Oak Hill Church in the Blackland Community just off CR 7461. Lawson had previously been charged and indicted on separate occasions with Possession of Precursors and two counts of sale of Methamphetamine. He is presently being held without bond due to the circumstances that he was out on bond on the other already indicted charges. Prentiss County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Investigator along with Booneville Narcotics Investigator worked the case.

On 10/14/2010 the Prentiss County Sheriff's office received the report of a suspicious person and vehicle at a vacant residence on HWY 370 West of Frankstown. Deputies and Investigators responded to the call and caught the following individual in the process of burglarizing the vacant residence. The suspect had loaded some of the contents of the residence into his automobile. The suspect is identified as Paul Franklin Besinger 46 of Hickory Flat. The suspect works in Booneville and lives in Hickory Flat and was burglarizing the residence on the way home after work. His bond was set at $5,000.. I can't emphasis enough how important it is for neighbors to watch out for neighbors, but this is a prime example of the public assisting Law Enforcement and hopefully by catching such suspects, may very well prevent our homes from being burglarized. Ours guys did a great job responding and catching him in the act but it would like not have happened without an alert neighbor who was willing to get involved.

On Oct 1, 2010 Prentiss County Deputies arrested Jimmy Green Tucker 33 of 37 CR 2291 Booneville and charged him with Burglary and Larceny. The charges stem from burglaries that occurred back on Friday 02/19/2010 and Sunday morning 02/21/2010 in the Cairo community. Tucker had been suspect in the burglaries along with a couple of our people. During the investigation we recovered some of the loot along with key pieces of evidence that we submitted to the Mississippi Crime Lab. The case hinged on the results of the examination of the evidence. We we ultimately got the results from the crime lab, and were able to eliminate the other two suspects and positively conclude that it was Tucker. This is the first case in which we used DNA evidence to solve a case of this nature rather than a case involving a death or sexual related crime. Previously when we had evidence involving DNA we had to submit that evidence to a private lab for analysis and one sample might cost thousands of dollars for a comparison. The reason being is that up until the last couple years our State Crime Lab didn't have the capability to do such tests. We are very fortunate now that the Lab does have the technicians and means to retrieve, test and match DNA samples at very little cost to an Agency. It will make a great impact on Law Enforcement Investigations in Mississippi.
Tucker had been arrested last year on drug charges and was sentenced to Drug Court. He will be revoked from the program and face that penalty along with the present charges. He remains in custody at this time. This is no reflection on the Drug Court. Our Drug Court has had a tremendous impact in reducing the number of those that Repeat Offend. This is just one of a very few that has not successfully complied with the conditions of supervision of Drug Court. Our Investigators and Deputies did an outstanding job in these cases.

On 09/03/2010 Friday a burglary was reported to the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office of a building in the Wheeler Community. The suspects mad off with approx. $34,000 worth of loot. The subsequent investigation by Prentiss County Investigators over the course of the entire month of Sept. lead to the arrests of four individuals. Robert "Bob" C Lewellen 49 of 575 CR 5011 Booneville, Jamie Ray Lewellen 31 of 575 CR 5011 Booneville, James 'JD' Dean Wilson 20 of 257 HWY 4 East Booneville and Karly Dawn Clark 17 of 214 CR 4141 New Site. Bob Lewellen is charged with Burglary and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. The remaining three are charged with Burglary. All four have been released on Bond at this time. This was a lengthy Investigation that took much resource to make our case. A substantial portion of the loot was recovered. I am very thankful for everyone's efforts and hard work. On Weds 09/02/2010, Prentiss County Narcotics Investigators, Deputies, Booneville Narcotics Officers in cooperation with North Mississippi Narcotics executed a search warrant and arrested Benjamin Clark Yates age 43 of 13 CR 8541 Booneville, after discovering that the suspect was in possession of Dilaudid (Hydromorphone) and Precursors needed to manufacture Methamphetamine. He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance and Possession of Precursors with the intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine. He is awaiting an initial appearance before a Judge before bond is set.

In the early morning hours of 09/01/2010 Prentiss County Narcotics Investigators, Deputies, Booneville Narcotics and North Mississippi Narcotics executed a search warrant at 49 CR 7149 Booneville and arrested Rick Joseph Lawson age 38 and Amanda Crystal Lucio-Parker age 28 both of 49 CR 7149 and charged them with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine) after Officers discovered the makings of a Meth Lab. Both are awaiting an initial appearance for bond to be set.

These arrests and searches stem from Prentiss County Narcotics continuing Investigations into the illegal manufacturing of methampetamine and Sale and Possession of Prescription Drugs.

Two individuals were arrested Friday morning Sept 3 and charged with Grand Larceny in regards to items taken from a HWY 365 address between Cairo and Burton. The pair are identified as Christopher Matthew Palmer 19 of 7901 HWY 371 North Marietta and Joseph Wolf Walters 25 of 14 Burleson Road Mantachie. The pair were arrested after they took a trailer from a vacant house on HWY 365. The owners of the property had reported earlier that someone had taken an International Truck from the property and items from inside the house. Their bonds were set at $5,000. Palmer is free on bond, Walters had an outstanding warrant from Tupelo and is presently still in custody.

On 08/27/2010 Sturgis William Baxter 18 107 CR 511 Corinth and an unidentified 16 year old juvenile was arrested by Prentiss County Authorities regarding a burglary that occurred on CR 8251 in Prentiss County. A Flat Panel TV and several other items were reported taken in the Burglary. Investigators and Deputies recovered some of the stolen property. Baxter was charged with Burglary and Larceny of a Dwelling.

Around 2am this morning Deputies and Investigators located and arrested Wanted Burglary Suspect Anthony Floyd. He was near his own residence when arrested. Floyd faces multiple charges of Burglary and Larceny, Manufacturing Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm by A Convicted Felon. He was on probation with the Department of Corrections. He will remain in custody pending revocation proceedings.

As of Monday Morning we have arrested two individuals responsible for numerous burglaries and thefts in the Tuscumbia/ New Chandler Community and are searching for a third. Friday afternoon we arrested James Trimble age 20 of 12 CR 1193 Booneville and later arrested William Scott Meyer 19 of 12 CR 1193 Booneville. The pair are Brothers. Trimble is charged with Burglary and Larceny and Meyer is charged with Burglary and Larceny,and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon, We have recovered several other firearms since Friday that are believed to have been taken in the above mentioned Burglaries. While we were searching for Meyer and other individual that fled into the woods Friday, an additional burglary was reported at a Shop in the same community. We later determined that these individuals were responsible for this burglary. The other individual that fled from us both Weds and Friday was Anthony G Floyd 20 of 194 Cr 1151 Booneville. He is believed to still be in the area. A warrant has been issued for his arrest and we are searching for him diligently. We ask that if anyone come in contact with him or knows his whereabouts, please call Crimestopper or the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office. He along with Meyer were both on Probation with the Mississippi Department of Correction. I caution anyone from assisting Floyd. Anyone aiding or assisting Floyd in anyway may be charged with Aiding and Abetting or Accessory After the Fact. On 07/14/2010 Prentiss County Investigators and Deputies executed a search warrant at a residence on CR 1151 and recovered property that had been taken in at least four burglaries that had been reported since July 1st. Three of the burglaries happened on CR 1101, one on CR 1195 and one on CR 1150. We recovered numerous firearms, 15 Marijuana plants (in and around the residence), a New GE Electric Stove, a Dry Vacuum, an eight foot Aluminum Level, an Aluminum ladder, a Lawn Chair, a Light Fixture, and two Oval Mirrors. Two of the burglaries were of residences that had been renovated or were in the process of renovating. Some of the other guns, jewelry and coins may have already been disposed of, so we ask the public's help in recovering any of these items that the suspects may have already sold or given away. If the property is returned we will see that it is returned to the proper owners. This is an investigation that everything just seemed to fall into place and worked out to our advantage. On 06/30/2010 Author Shane Yarbrough age 34 of 10 CR 7515 Baldwyn and his Wife Dusti Anne Yarbrough age 35 of the same address were arrested by Prentiss County Deputies after a traffic stop revealed the precursors used to manufacture methamphetamine. Shane Yarbrough was on probation with the Mississippi Department of Corrections and is being held pending a revocation. A $5,000 bond was set on the pending charge. His wife, Dusti Yarbrough was released 07/01/2010 on a $5,000 bond. These cases will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury. The pair were charged with possession of precursors.

On 06/23/2010 April Vanderford age 29 of 78 Main Street Rienzi and Robby Glen Johnson age 30 of 22 CR 1051 Booneville were arrested by Prentiss County Investigators after they determined that the pair were involved in the Burglary of a dwelling on Hwy 356 in Prentiss County East of Jacinto. The victim reported that two guns were taken during the burglary along with and undetermined amount of change and other items. Their bonds have been set at $10,000 and both remain in custody at this time.

The victim of the aggravated Assault/Armed Robbery is being identified as Steven K Holley age 46 of Thrasher. He died this morning from the wounds he suffered during the Assault and Robbery. He was initially transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville then Air Lifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He remain there until he died. Prentiss County Authorities traveled to Sommerville Tennessee yesterday morning and transported the second suspect in the case back to Prentiss County. He had been arrested the previous night at a Walmart by Agents with The United States Marshals Services Fugitive Apprehension Task Force. Agents recovered a mobile meth lab and a 9mm pistol from the automobile they were traveling in. The pair of suspects were charged with Aggravated Assault/Armed Robbery and Grand Larceny in the matter but due to the fact that the Holley passed away, the charges are being upgraded to Capital Murder. The first suspect, Jeremy Huguley had already had an initial appearance and his bond had been set at $500,000, but will be raised once the charges are upgraded. We are still tying up several loose ends and expect to have the investigation rapped up very soon. It is very tragic any time someone looses their life. Many people (Family, Friends, Etc.) suffer from such senseless killings. I am very pleased at the way this investigation played out. It took many people working many hours to get everything wrapped up.

The Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault suspect Charles David Burleson II of Tupelo is now in custody. Just prior to 9PM last night agents with the The United States Marshals Service Fugitive Apprehension Task Force captured Burleson inside a Walmart in Sommerville Tennessee without incident. He was still in the company of his girlfriend. The pair had been traveling in her Green Ford Mustang. Agents discovered a gun and a mobile meth lab in the automobile. Burleson is being held in Tennessee at this time. Officers with the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office will be traveling to Tennessee today or tomorrow. I would like to express appreciation for the tremendous effort show by everyone especially the US Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force, without them we would not have had jurisdiction outside of Mississippi. There were numerous other agencies whose assistance was crucial in the case, Lee County Sheriff's Office, Tupelo Police Department, Guntown Police and the Mississippi Department of Corrections along with others agencies to many to name. Hopefully with his arrest we can wrap this case up and present it to the next Grand Jury.

The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate the following individual that was involved in a robbery, aggravated assault this past Saturday May 15th in the Thrasher Community in Northern Prentiss County. The victim was found by his father between 1PM and 1:30 PM laying in a pool of blood in the floor of the living room of their residence, after the father returned home from fishing. One suspect and a potential witness is in custody at this time. We have warrants issued and are actively searching for the second suspect. Charles David Burleson II age 27 of Erin St in Tupelo. He is known to be frequenting the Saltillo/ Guntown area. He is a White/Male 5'9" 192 lbs. He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, and Grand Larceny. If any one has any information about this individual please contact The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office @ 662-728-2002, Crimestoppers or your local Law Enforcement Agency. He is also wanted by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a Probation Violation. The other suspect is Jeremy Keith Huguley 20 of 180 CR 544 Rienzi, who remains in custody. He is charged with the same charges and no bond has been set at this time. The victim was transported to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville and then Air Lifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo where he is in Critical condition. We have recovered numerous items that was taken during the robbery, such as a Flat Panel TV, the victims wallet and cell phone. We also recovered the weapon believed to have been used to assault the victim.

The Prentiss County 911 received the report of a shooting incident on HWY 4 East of Booneville at 5:47 PM yesterday. The victim in this case placed the call to 911 stating she had been shot twice. Responding deputies arrived nine minutes after receiving the call and arrived at about the same time that the suspect returned to the scene. The victim was Jane Jones age 66. The suspect was Rebecca Jones 46 of 1151 CR 450 Lexington Alabama, the victims daughter. The victim had been shot twice, once in the stomach and once in the arm. She was transported to Baptist Memorial in Booneville, then airlifted to North MS Medical Center in Tupelo where she died from her wounds. The weapon was recovered at the scene. The suspect is charged with Murder. Bond has not been set at this time.

The third suspect in the June 2009 Burglary/ Home Invasion/Kidnapping of a Blackland/Booneville Father and Daughter has been arrested by and charged with 2 Cts Burglary, 2 CTs Kidnapping, and Conspiracy. His bond has been set at $100,000. I am very pleased with the outcome of this investigation and proud that we now have identified all those involved. Jason Channin Young age 25 of 411 East Street Baldwyn was arrested Monday night after a warrant was issued for his arrest and we notified Shannon Police to see if they could locate him. The arrest was made without incident.

On Thursday April 29th Prentiss County Authorities arrested suspects believed to be involved in the June 26th 2009 Burglary/ Home Invasion and Kidnapping of a Blackland Father and daughter. This was a lengthy investigation that has led to these two arrest and the potential arrest of a third suspect. The incident occurred last June 26th around 10am and was reported around noon after the one of the victims escaped her captor. We were very fortunate that no one was hurt. The incident occurred at the the residences of the Father and his Daughter and her Husband on CR 7100. The suspects apparently were looking for money and attempted to force the Victims into cashing a large check at a local bank but were unsuccessful and only made off with several firearms and a some cash.

We arrested the following individuals:

Quincy Jamuel Miller B/M age 23 of Baldwyn and Anthony T Branch B/M 42 of Booneville.

Late Thursday evening after Miller's arrest we executed a search warrant at 95 CR 8301 Booneville. We recovered evidence that we believe associated with the June Incident and unexpectedly discovered a marijuana grow operation. Investigators discovered over 300 Marijuana plants in various states of growth located in the back yard and a wooded area near the house. We also confiscated 13 firearms, a tractor and equipment and the suspects 2003 F350 Ford Truck and other evidence. Neither suspect has any prior felony arrests.

The pair have been charged with two counts of Kidnapping, two counts of Burglary and Larceny, Conspiracy to commit Kidnapping.

Anthony T Branch was also charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance Marijuana.

Miller's bond was set at $100,000 and Branch's bond was set at $500,000

I would like to commend our investigators for putting this case together, leading to these arrests. North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, Booneville Police and Narcotics along with The Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol assisted with this case.

The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office is nearing the completion of a lengthy investigation into multiple burglaries and thefts that have occurred within the last six months, mainly on the West side of the county ranging from the Blackland Community to the Alcorn County Line. Several arrests have been made with additional arrests expected.

Those arrested are Steven Champion age 19 of 110 Suburban Drive Booneville charged with Two counts of Burglary & Larceny and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon. His bond has been set at $15,000 but a hold has been placed on him by the Department of Corrections.

Andrew B Hopkins age 29 of 121 CR 5471 Baldwyn has been charged with Burglary and Larceny with an additional charge forthcoming. His bond has been set at $10,000 but is being held in Lee County for a probation violation.

Jonathan Dale Davis age 22 of 913 HWY 4 West Booneville was charged with Burglary and Larceny, his bond was set at $10,000.

Brian Lauderdale age 24 of 170 CR 8500 was charged with Burglary and Larceny and his bond was set at $10,000.

Bobby Ray Alexander JR age 17 913 HWY 4 West Booneville was charged with Burglary and Larceny, his bond was set at $10,000.

James Maxwell Cook age 18 of 803 HWY 4 West Booneville was charged with Burglary and Larceny and his bond was set at $5,000.

Colby Christian Stewart age 19 of 132 CR 8401 Booneville was charged with Burglary and Larceny and his bond was set at $10,000.

Each suspect could likely have additional charges that will be presented to the next Prentiss County Grand Jury. The investigation actually revealed involvement of some of the above individuals in crimes that may have occurred in adjoining counties. The Investigators in this case worked very hard to piece together and sort out the facts and evidence in each incident. The investigation also led to the recovery of a substantial portion of the loot in several of the burglaries and thefts. Our Investigators are to be commended for their hard work and diligence.

The Prentiss County Sheriff's Office has made several drug arrests recently. Christopher Wildman, age 31, 200 Little Turkey Trail Tupelo was arrested after a traffic stop 03/30/2010 by Prentiss County Narcotics Officer Joey Clark on CR 5091. He was found to be in possession of precursors used to make methamphetamine. He was charged with Possession of Precursors. His bond was set at $5,000 but a hold was placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Corrections for a Probation/Parole violation.

On 04/04/2010 Prentiss County Deputies stopped Brian Napaul Lauderdale age 24 of 170 CR 8500 Booneville on a traffic stop on HWY 30 East of Booneville. Deputies discovered drug paraphernalia, dilaudid and adderall. He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance (Dilaudid & Adderall) and was released on a $10,000 bond.

On 04/06/2010 an investigation into narcotics violations led Prentiss County Authorities to execute a search warrant at a CR 1101 Booneville residence. Investigators arrested Jaret Ray Taylor 38. Investigators discovered approx. 2 grams of Methamphetamine and precursors used to make Methamphetamine and seized $455.00 cash. He was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Sell or Distribute and Possession of Precursors and Manufacturing Methamphetamine. His bond was set at $15,000 but a hold was placed on him by the Mississippi Department of Correction for a Parole Violation.

On 04/06/2010 Prentiss County Narcotics Investigators assisted by Booneville Narcotics Investigators both being members of North Mississippi Narcotics Unit arrested Jerry Dewayne George age 27 of 26 CR 3101 Booneville after searching his premises. He was charged with Possession of Precursors with intent to Manufacture Methamphetamine. His bond was set at $5,000.

White is charged with two misdemeanor violations along with two felony charges; Possession of Precursors and Conspiracy. Her bond was set at a total of $12,500.

An undercover operation of five to six months by Booneville Police Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the Prentiss County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Officer and North Mississippi Narcotics has resulted in nine people being arrested on felony narcotics charges, said Detective Capt. Michael Ramey, Booneville CID supervisor. Other arrests are pending.“Booneville Patrol Officers and Prentiss County Deputies rounded these people up between Jan. 2-8. All of these felony cases will be presented to the Prentiss County grand jury,” Ramey said. Approximately 4 to 5 grams of crack cocaine were seized from these individuals,” he said. Approximately $663 cash was also seized.“This was a good job between the city narcotics and county narcotics officers working together.” Those arrested and their charges are:

- Anthony Toby Shinault, 48, of 109 Jacinto Heights #1, Booneville, sale of crack cocaine. Bond $15,000.

- Robert E. Jones Jr., 36, 106 Cedar St., Apt. C, Booneville, two counts sale of crack cocaine within 1,500 feet of a church. Bond is $20,000. He is being held by the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) on a probation violation.

- Terrell Jones, 22, of 106 Oak St., Booneville, one count sale of crack cocaine within 1,500 feet of a church; also charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. He is being held without bond by the District Attorney’s office because he was out on a prior felony bond.

- Johnny Ray Chambers, 66, of 204 King St., Apt. 4D, Booneville, sale of crack cocaine within 1,500 feet of a church; also charged with conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Bond is $30,000.

- Chuckie Leach, 37, of 713 Jacinto Road, Booneville, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Bond is $20,000. He is also being held by the MDOC for a probation violation.

- Robert Mack Miller, 54, of 211 Cedar St., Booneville, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Bond is $20,000.

- Cornelius Young, 33, of 1001 Jacinto Rd., Booneville, conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. He is being held without bond because he was out on a felony bond.

- Roy Williams, 47, of 213 Cedar St., Booneville, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Bond is $20,000.

- Bridgette Southward, 42, of 1002 MLK Drive, Booneville, possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine. Bond is $20,000. She is being held by MDOC for a probation violation.

On 12/31/2009 James Aaron White age 29 of 268 HWY 370 west of Baldwyn was arrested and charged with burglary in connection with an incident that occurred back on 10/06/2009 at a residence on CR 6381 Baldwyn. The initial report stated that unknown individuals entered and took two guns from a vehicle at his residence. We can credit witnesses at the scene for giving us the initial lead in the case with a description of a vehicle. I encourage everyone to heighten their awareness of suspicious people and vehicles in our communities and neighborhoods. Investigator Sammy Henderson is the lead Investigator on the case with Investigator Roy Ragin assisting. After White's arrest, Investigators recovered several guns on 01/05.2010 Tuesday that White had disposed of. Investigators actually recovered more guns than was reported stolen. The Investigators determined that there were actually three guns taken in the burglary rather than two and the victim didn't realize it until saw the other guns. We still are attempting to identify two other guns that were recovered, both long guns. White was released on a $2,500 bond 01/02/2010. This was a case that everything came together with the cooperation of numerous people and Law Enforcement agencies. Our Investigators did a great job in solving the burglary and finally tracking down the suspect after looking for him for an extended period of time.

On Dec. 20th North Mississippi Community College Part Time Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy held it's Graduation ceremony. The Prentiss County Sheriff's Officer graduated three employees. Left to Right Rusty Burroughs, Justin Underwood, Elizabeth Lindsay and Sheriff Randy Tolar. I am very proud of their accomplishments. All three were recognized for their excellence of performance during the training. Rusty Burrough (Dispatcher) received the Highest Academic Award, Elizabeth Lindsay (Dispatcher) received the Driving Award for the Best Score and Justin Underwood (Corrections Officer) was recognized for receiving the third highest score in both Firearms Training and Physical Fitness Training. Now that these Officers have graduated they can serve in a sworn capacity that hopefully will relieve some of the full time sworn officers tasks such as transports and court duties.

On Nov.16th 2009 Prentiss County Deputies went to arrest two individuals on recent indictments handed down by a Prentiss County Grand Jury. During the arrests at the suspects home on CR 7301 Deputies discovered that one on the individuals, Jason Hargett was in possession of methamphetamine in his pocket. The Deputies notified our Narcotics Officer who in turn obtained a search warrant for the residence. After the search was conducted, both individuals faced additional charges besides the indictments. The pair, Mother and Son, Cathy Shadburn age 49 of 756 CR 7301 was charged with Possession of Precursors and Jason L Hargett age 27 of 756 CR 7301 was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to sell or transfer and Possession of Precursors. Both individuals are being held without bond. The reason being is that both were already out on bonds for felony charges. This was a great job on everybody's part and good luck as far as the timing of the arrests.

Arnold was charged with Manufacturing Marijuana and Possession of Precursors and Wilemon was Charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine and Possession of Precursors. Both were released on $50,000 Bonds. Booneville Police Narcotics and North Ms Narcotics assisted in the case.

A Prentiss County Grand Jury recently indicted nine individuals on various charges relating to a Chop Shop Investigation that was initiated earlier this year. The investigation revealed several incidents of insurance fraud, in which the vehicle owners were allegedly a part of a scheme or plan to report their respective vehicles stolen and then collect the insurance. At least one whole vehicle was recovered and a multitude of auto parts were recovered that was related to the alleged insurance frauds Several other vehicles were recovered that those involved allegedly had attempted to disguise the true identity. A Chop Shop is a place that stolen vehicles or reported stolen vehicles are dismantled, parts sold or the operators attempt to disguise the vehicles identity by switching Vehicle Identification Numbers or mutilate those identifiers to prevent identification. Two separate searches were conducted at 49 CR 7149 Booneville.The following individuals were arrested as of 11/17/2009

On Nov. 10th 2009 two individuals were arrested for their involvement in the theft of a ATV from Northeast Mississippi Community College Campus at a residence that was reported 09/22/2009. The ATV was recovered the same day shortly after the theft was reported. Investigator Roy Ragin is investigating the case and recovered the ATV in the area of the Baldwyn- Booneville Airport. The suspects are Roy Williams 47 of 213 Cedar St Booneville and Cornelious Young age 33 of 918 N Lake St. Booneville. Both were charged with Grand Larceny in this matter Their bonds were set at $5,000 each on the County Charges. The pair are also being investigated by the Booneville Police Department concerning thefts of lawnmowers during the same time frame. Another suspect has not been arrested at this point and the case on him will be presented straight to the next Grand Jury. Investigator Ragin has done an outstanding on this case and this case is a great example of cooperation between agencies

Unrelated, we have recently had a rash of ATV, Trailer and Lawnmower Thefts from the Wheeler/Hopewell area. The thefts occurred over a two day period, week before last. We believe the thefts occurred during the daytime and ask if anyone saw any suspicious vehicles or people in the area please call the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office. We would also ask that the public heighten their awareness in their respective communities during the upcoming holiday season. Crime seems to also escalate during this time every year.

On 09/22/2009, Prentiss County Deputies arrested three individuals that had just burglarized a residence on CR 6100 west of Baldwyn. We received the report from a concerned citizen and Officers responded immediately. One of Baldwyn's Police Department Officers spotted the vehicle and made the traffic stop. Investigators and Deputies arrested the trio, Derrick Barnett 45, Charvze Dearmon 21, and Channing A Price 24 all of Baldwyn and charged them with Burglary of a dwelling and Grand Larceny. Their bonds were set at $10,000 each. Barnett remains in custody with a hold for Mississippi Department of Corrections and the other two are free on bond. All the items stolen were recovered still in the suspects vehicle. This was a good example of the public getting involved and Law Enforcement agencies working together.

On Tuesday, 09/08/2009 Prentiss County Sheriff Randy Tolar and Narcotics Investigator Joey Clark arrested Jimmy Green Tucker age 32 of 37 CR 2291 Booneville. Tucker was stopped on Hwy 364 near Cairo while riding on the Hwy on an ATV. Officers discovered a 1/4 to 1/2 lb of marijuana and a handgun in Tucker's possession. On 09/13/2009, Prentiss Deputy Keith Lovell and Investigator Sammy Henderson responded to the report of a burglary on HWY 4 East in the New Site Area, in which a security lock box was taken. On 9/1/2009, Prentiss County and Booneville Narcotics Officers and authorities arrested Megan Henley 19, of 600 West College St Apt 23, Booneville and James "Bubba" Garner 27 of the same address. Both were charged with Possession of controlled substance (Meth), Manufacturing a controlled substance (Meth) and Child abuse. Henley was freed on a $20,000 bond, Garner's Bond was set at $20,000. Investigators were running surveillance on the pair's apt. when Garner fled from the Officers in an automobile ultimately wrecking the car during the pursuit on Ninth Street in the sharp curve near Carolina Methodist Church. He was only slightly injured but refused medical attention. Henley was arrested at the same time by City Narcotics Investigators at the Apt. This is an investigation that has been going on for sometime and everything just fell into place. The Officers did an outstanding job utilizing information gathered from the public,other sources that helped make the case, but finally the Investigators own diligence. On 08/25/2009, Investigators arrested Mitchell Wayne Huddleston 31, of 286 CR 5091 Booneville, and charged him with Manufacturing a controlled substance (Marijuana) and Possession of Stolen Property. The latter charge stems from the theft of several items stolen from the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office Mobile Command trailer that was parked on Corp of Engineers Property at Bay Springs. The trailer was found burned on the morning of July 12th. The items recovered from Huddleston included a generator, a lighting system and a power cord. The fire was investigated and determined to be arson. Huddleston is not charged with the fire, but investigators are continuing the investigation and soliciting any information that might help solve the crime. Crimestoppers of North Mississippi is offering up to a $1,000 reward and The State's Fire Marshals Office is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Arson. Huddleston was released on a$10,000 bond.

On 08/26/2009, Prentiss County Deputies arrested Marion "Marty" Arthur Davis 54, of 5 CR 1130 Booneville, on the charges of Grand Larceny that stemmed from the theft of a Tractor and Disk that was stolen from a CR 1371 residence while the victims were out of town back on 09/30/2007. "We had been attempting to locate Davis for some time now. The other suspect was arrested shortly after the incident and indicted. He is presently in custody in Savannah Tennessee on multiple felony charges." The tractor and disk was recovered. This was a lengthy and time consuming investigation that covered three counties and was aided by tips from confidential sources that were critical to solving the case.

On Thursday August 13th, Tippah County Authorities arrested Anthony George Nugent 34, of 2450 HWY 368 Blue Mountain, the arrest was based on a warrant that was issued for the charge of Accessory After the Fact of Burglary of an Automobile, involving the theft of a Dell Laptop Computer back in July. Prentiss County Investigators had been working on the case and following up on leads that ultimately led them to Nugent who wound up in possession of the computer. His bond was set at $2,000 and he is free on bond. The computer was recovered. Another arrest was made concerning the same computer. Tasha Rochelle Traylor 38, of 230 North 3rd Street Saltillo was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property also on Aug 13th, her bond was set at $2,500 and she is free on bond. The individual who was responsible for the actually Automobile Burglaries remains in custody. There were three automobiles burglarized on Cr 1371 back in July and it has been determined that he was responsible for the three burglaries. The cases will be presented to the next Grand Jury in Oct. This was a very in depth case that took a lot of leg work and the use of technology that we have used before. I am very pleased with the Investigators handling of this case and for everyone's assistance in this matter.

On Aug. 18th, Wed evening, Ana Lisa Davis 32, of 34 CR 8361 was arrested at a Cr 8050 Booneville residence. She was arrested after Prentiss County Sheriff's Narcotics Officer Joey Clark along with Booneville City Narcotics Officer Josh Davis discovered a meth lab in the automobile she was occupying. Another individual fled into the woods and is still being sought. She is charged with Manufacturing a Controlled Substance and bond has not been set at this time. On Sat. Aug. 2nd, the Prentiss County Sheriff's Office received several calls concerning a drunk driver in the Jumpertown area. Deputy Torie Jumper responded to the calls and located the suspect driver identified by Jumper as Robby Eaton age 44, of 221 CR 8401 Rienzi. When located Deputy Jumper attempted to stop Eaton on CR 8401. He failed to yield to her attempts to stop him and eventually turned on to HWY 4 west and struck an automobile at the intersection and continued to refused to stop. Eaton struck two more automobiles on HWY 4 before exiting Prentiss County into Tippah County. Tippah County authorities were notified of the pursuit along with the Highway Patrol. A Tippah County Deputy set up spike strips on HWY 4 but the suspect turned onto a County Road before making it that far. He eventually was pursued onto HWY 2. The Officers called off the pursuit when it appeared to be too dangerous to continue because of Eaton's erratic driving and the bad road conditions (Raining). Eaton was arrested Monday Night at his residence by Prentiss County Deputies and an Agent with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Eaton was on Probation with the DOC and a warrant had been issued for a probation violation. Eaton was charged with Felony Fleeing and numerous other charges including leaving the scene of an accident x 3. Bond was set on the misdemeanor charges but he remains in custody on the revocation. The Officer did an outstanding job and used good judgement in deciding to discontinue the pursuit considering she knew who the driver was.

The Prentiss County Sheriff's Department Narcotics Investigator recently presented four separate cases involving nine individuals on charges of Conspiring to Manufacture Methamphetamine. These investigations spanned over a two month period of time and involved many of the suspects for their role in the conspiracy for purchasing or obtaining the base ingredients required to manufacture Meth. The Prentiss County Narcotics Investigator along with Booneville Police Narcotics Investigator and North Mississippi Narcotics worked many man hours following these cases through to the suspects arrests after the cases were presented the the last Prentiss County Grand Jury. These men have done an outstanding job and we hope that these indictment send a clear message to those involved in the manufacturing of this terrible drug, regardless of how minor their roles are, that the likelihood of getting caught making meth in Prentiss County has been elevated to a higher level. The Prentiss County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Jumpertown man on charges of operating a chop shop, said Sheriff Randy Tolar. Henry Lawson, 67, of 49 CR 7149, Booneville, was charged July 10, with operating a chop shop, possessing, selling or transferring an automobile or automobile part with a switched vehicle identification number (VIN) and actual switching of the VIN plate, Tolar said. He is free on $25,000 bond. The investigation began about a month ago. A search warrant was executed at a residence at 35 CR 7149 where law enforcement officers seized two Chevrolet trucks, both of which had switched VIN plates, Tolar said. One of the trucks, a gold 2001 extended cab four-door Chevrolet Silverado, had been reported stolen April 25 from Logan's Restaurant in Tupelo. "I confirmed the person possessing the truck had purchased it from Henry Lawson," he said. The truck reported stolen April 25, had already been titled to another person by May 4 and had a switched VIN. After the residence at CR 7149 was searched, a search warrant was obtained for Lawson's residence and premises, also on CR 7149. "At that point we recovered parts to at least four different vehicles that have been reported stolen over the course of the last year or so," Tolar said. "Three were stolen within the state of Mississippi and one from Illinois." A second search warrant was executed at Lawson's residence/shop July 10, with additional items seized. Lawson has had numerous convictions for auto theft type activities, both in Illinois and Mississippi, he said. His last charges were involving federal charges out of the western district of Tennessee. He had been out of prison about three years and came off federal parole earlier this year, he continued. Three other people were brought in for questioning but have not been charged at this time.The entire case will be presented to the next Prentiss County grand jury in October and there may be other charges forthcoming.

On 07/06/2009, Prentiss County Deputies Derrick Hester and Tammy Johnson accompanied a Local bank Representative to a house and property that was in the process of being vandalized. Upon arrival at the location just south of Booneville, off Meadowcreek Road, Deputies discovered several individuals at and in the house. Two individuals were arrested. One for misdemeanor drug charges. That individual was on parole and remains in custody pending a revocation hearing. The second individual, Sandra Baylee, age 40 of 1208 East Church Street Booneville , was arrested and charged with Possession of Controlled Substance being Hydomorphine more commonly known as Dilaudid. She had numerous dosage units in her possession at the time of her arrest. Her bond was set at $10,000. She is free on Bond.

On Tuesday June 23rd, around 8 am the Prentiss County Sheriff Department executed a search at 35 CR 7149 in Jumpertown in an effort to locate a truck stolen from Tupelo on April 25th, 2009. The truck, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado Gold in color was seized during the search. Investigators also seized a white Chevrolet truck that appeared to have a switched Vehicle Identification Number, and approximately five (5) ounces of marijuana and several firearms. Janice Burcham, age 45, was charged with possession of controlled substance (marijuana) with the intent to sell or distribute, enhanced within 1500 feet of a church. Her bond was set at $5,000 and she was released the following day. The investigation into the stolen truck is ongoing.

After a lengthy investigation, On Tuesday, June 23rd 2009, Prentiss County Sheriff's Narcotics Officer Joey Clark, along with Booneville Narcotics Investigator Josh Davis executed a search warrant at 29 CR 4070 in Marietta and arrested Hollis Andy Pharr. Investigators discovered that Pharr was in possession of methamphetamine at his residence. The Officers also discovered numerous firearms. Pharr is a prior convicted felon. Pharr was charged with possession of methamphetamine enhanced while in possession of a firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond was set at $10,000 and he was released on bond the following day.

On May 27th, the Prentiss County Sheriff's office received the report of some stolen guns from a CR 1252 resident. After checking local pawn shops in Prentiss County, Investigator Roy Ragin got a break in the case and determine that at least one of the guns had been pawned there. After he developed a suspect, Reserve/Part time Deputy Bryant Cunningham located the suspect and took him into custody. Investigators have recovered two of the three firearms. Mills was charged with one count of grand larceny and one count of Petty Larceny. He is free on bond at this time.

Three arrests have been made in the investigation of the burglary at Tuscumbia One Stop that was reported May 22nd. The trio broke in the store by kicking in a rear door and stealing about $4000 worth of cigarettes and multiple other items including the stores surveillance camera monitor and the cash register. A break came in the case when Deputy Tommy Davis received information from a concerned citizen that the trio were likely involved in the burglary. Bobby Leon Allred, 19 of Booneville, Scott Myers ,17 and Curtis Brent Winslow, 17, were all charged with burglary and larceny of a commercial building. Their bonds have been set at $25,000 each. Allred remains in custody with a hold on him for the Mississippi Department of Corrections, he was currently on probation from an incident that had occurred previously in Alcorn County. On Thursday May 21, Prentiss County Narcotics Officer Joey Clark and Prentiss County Deputies, assisted by Booneville Narcotics Officer Josh Davis and an agent with Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant at two residences and property located on CR 7301, Booneville. The search of the locations revealed the makings of at least two meth labs, a quantity of methamphetamine, and several firearms. During the search of one of the locations Investigators seized a surveillance system consisting of a monitor and several cameras. Three individuals were charged with various crimes. Cathy Shadburn, age 48, of 756 CR 7301 Booneville, was charged with Possession of Precursors and Child Abuse under a section that concerns children being present at or near a meth lab. Her bond is set at $50,000. Jason Hargett, age 27, (Shadburn's Son) of 756 CR 7301, Booneville was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine enhanced/ while in possession of a firearm, Possession of Precursors enhanced/ while in possession of a firearm and Child Abuse. His bond is set at $50,000. Billy Wayne Prentiss, age 44, of 752 CR 7301, Booneville was charged with Possession of Precursors and Child Abuse. His bond is set at $50,000 on these charges. Billy Wayne Prentiss also had additional charges placed by the Booneville Police Departments Narcotics Officers and an additional Bond of $20,000 was set on those charges.

On May the 9th, Prentiss County Sheriff's Department received a report of a stolen dog in the Thrasher Community. During the course of the investigation, Investigators determined that the pet was stolen and pitted against two bulldogs as a training exercise for the pits. The remains of the stolen animal were not recovered. This was a vicious and cruel act by the suspects. The stolen dog was a family pet and didn't have a chance of survival against the two Pit bulls. Four arrests have been made in the incident. One juvenile was charged and released to his parents and three adults. Phillip Grizzard, age 18 of 65 CR 8200 Rienzi, was charged with dog theft but didn't have anything to do with the fighting of the animals. His bond was set at$5,000. Tevin Barnard Williams, age 17 of 104 Horton Rd Booneville, was charged with Dog Theft, Dog Fighting, and a couple of misdemeanor charges. His bond was set at $20,000. Terran A Spears age, 18 of 100 Jacinto Road Booneville, is charged with Dog Theft and Dog Fighting with his bond set at $20,000. This is a very serious crime with serious consequences. The dog fight was not a organized episode but it was evident to the investigators that this had taken place other times before this incident.

A second arrest in the burglary of a CR 5491 shop and pickup was made by Prentiss County Investigator Sammy Henderson, on 04/23/2009. Arrested was Will Horton, 19 of Baldwyn. He was charged with Burglary and Larceny and his bond was set at $25,000. He was released Friday 04/24/2009, after making bond. His arrest came after the arrest of James Michael (Murdock) Harper, earlier last week for the same crime. Numerous items were taken in the burglary including a generator, a Dewalt reciprocating saw, a circular saw and a Stihl Chainsaw. The chainsaw has been recovered. If anyone has information regarding the burglary or the items taken, call Crimestoppers of Northeast Mississippi for a possible reward or the Prentiss County Sheriff's Department at 662-728-2002. The Lee County Sheriff's Department assisted in the Investigation. This investigation would not have been a success if not for the cooperation of the other agencies and individuals.

On 04/19/2009 Sunday morning, Prentiss County Deputies and Investigators investigated the burglary of Mike's Place in Burton. The burglary occurred sometime earlier before the burglary was discovered. During the investigation a suspect was developed and soon afterward taken into custody along with numerous pieces of physical evidence that tied him to the burglary. Officers arrested David Shannon Clingan, age 30 of 230 CR 2230 Booneville. He was arrested at home without incident not long after the burglary was reported. This was the second time this individual had burglarized the same business. He was on parole from prison after serving a short time for the first burglary. The suspect took money in a moneybag, cigarettes and soft drinks. He was given a initial appearance and the judge set his bond at $10,000. Although he had a bond set, he remains in custody because the Mississippi Department of Correction has hold on him for failing to report to his parole officer. This was a great job on every body's part. We could not have been as successful if it had not been for the cooperation of the business owner.

Prentiss County Deputies were busy this past weekend. Deputy David Berrios made two felony traffic stops that resulted in the recovery of a quarter pound of marijuana and several rocks of crack cocaine. Around 3 am, on 4/18/2009, Officer Berrios arrested Greg Young, 38 of 1309 Robinson Drive, Guntown and charged him with possession of a controlled substance being crack cocaine. Young is presently on probation with the MS Dept of Correction and a hold has been placed on him. Bond is still pending in this matter. He also was arrested for two counts of contempt of court. He was arrested in the Baldwyn Area.

On 04/18/2009, around 4:30am Officer Berrios also arrested Scotty Griffith, 37 of 2931A CR 501 Dumas after a traffic stop resulted in the seizure of approx. a 1/4 lb of Marijuana. His bond was set at $5,000 on the charge of possession of controlled substance, marijuana with the intent to sell, transfer or deliver. He was also charged with contempt of court in another matter. Both individual remain in custody at this time.

On Wednesday, 04/15/2009, Prentiss County Narcotics Investigator Joey Clark made a traffic stop on HWY 364 and discovered that the occupants were in possession of a controlled substance, crack cocaine. Arrested were Joshua Corey Huddleston age 24, of New Site and Jessica MaryAnn Borden age 21, of Booneville. They were given an initial appearance and their bonds were set at $2,500 each, although Borden was under supervision with the Mississippi Department of Correction. She remains in custody with a hold from MDOC.

On Saturday 03/28/2009, Prentiss County Narcotics, Booneville Narcotics, North MS Narcotics and Prentiss County Deputies executed a search warrant at 16 CR 1129 Booneville. Officers discovered and seized Methamphetamine, small quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. This investigation had been going on for an extended period of time. The suspect, Sherri Renee Burse age 47 of 16 Cr 1129 Booneville was charged with possession of controlled substance. She was presently on probation for an earlier narcotics violation and the Mississippi Department of Correction placed a hold on her. She remains in custody. This was an outstanding job by the narcotics officers and all those involved.

Prentiss County 911 received a 911 call of a missing three year old child.

A CR 5051 resident reported that the three year old was her nephew and that they were asleep, but when she awakened the three year old was no where to be found and the door was open. She immediately reported the missing child with the description of the child and what he was wearing.

The call came in at 10:03 am. The first Deputies arrived on the scene within twelve minutes and began the search for the missing child. The child, dressed only in a diaper and a t-shirt was found about 1/2 mile from the house approximately 5-6 minutes later by one of the responding deputies, Deputy Derrick Hester. The child had apparently exited the house and wandered out into some cut over timber near the residence.

Deputy Hester, stated he could hear the child screaming and crying and quickly pinpointed where the child was in the thick undergrowth. This incident had the ultimate best outcome. We have not been able to determine how long the child was gone out of the residence before the Aunt was aware that he was missing. We had five Deputies and two investigators on the scene within minutes. Butch Owens was the 911 operator that received the initial call and did an outstanding job in relaying all the information to the Officers.

On 3/19/2009 Prentiss County Investigators arrested Charles Stephen Sumrall, age 24 of 801 Collegeview Apts 2B Booneville, concerning two incidents that he was involved with East of Marietta. He was charged with Grand Larceny and Burglary and Larceny in the two incidents. He remains in custody under a $25,000 bond.

On 03/25/2009 Jason Dewayne Cole, age 24 of Wheeler was arrested and charged with burglary and larceny of the Wheeler Grocery. The burglary occurred on Tuesday night 03/24/2009. His bond has been set at $10,000 on this charge. Cole had just been released from jail around 4pm on the 24th. This was Cole's second arrest on burglary charges since the first of the year. He was arrested in late January and charged with burglary and larceny concerning an incident that happened in Frankstown. In both these cases the Investigators did an outstanding job in building their cases.

In the early morning hours of 02/04/2009, Investigator Sammy Henderson and Deputy Ron Brewer arrested Billy Wayne Prentiss after a traffic stop North of Thrasher. Deputies discovered that Prentiss was in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine (several grams). Narcotics investigator Joey Clark is investigating the case. We have been having an increase in thefts in that area and the Deputies and Investigators have been focusing on any unusual or suspicious activities and/or vehicles. These Officers were very observant and did a great job. Prentiss was charged with possession of a controlled substance ( methamphetamine) with the intent to sell, transfer or distribute. His bond was set at $10,000. He was released on bond later that night.

Prentiss County Deputies and Investigators were called to investigate the burglary of a Frankstown Business early Monday morning. Investigators acted quickly and took two suspects into custody shortly after receiving the report. The suspects were charged with burglary and larceny of a commercial building and their bonds have been set at $10,000 each. Both remain in custody at this time. Arrested were Steven Earnest Coulter age 51 of #4 CR 7450 Booneville and Jason Dewayne Cole age 24 of 4 CR 7450 Booneville. It turned out that the burglary had occurred over the previous weekend and wasn't discovered until Monday morning. A variety of items were taken in the burglary mostly tools, watches and other misc. items. Much of which has been recovered after diligent efforts on the part of our investigators. Sammy Henderson and Roy Ragin did a great job in taking the initiative and following up on every lead working almost nonstop.

Investigators are still investigating the burglary the previous week of another business very near by, in which numerous pairs of new boots and footwear were stolen. We are trying to determine any connection between the two burglaries. On Jan 25th, Prentiss County Deputies David Berrios and Ron Brewer arrested Timothy Olive, aka Timothy Tidwell age 39 of 8091 CR 600 Booneville and Cathy Mauney Shadburn age 48 of 752 CR 7301 Booneville after a traffic stop on CR 7301. The Officers recovered Crack Cocaine, Methamphetamine, precursors and a handgun. Subsequently Prentiss County Narcotics Officer Joey Clark and Booneville City Narcotics Josh Davis and Prentiss County Deputies executed a search warrant at Shadburns residence and recovered a Meth Lab. Olive aka Tidwell is charged with Possession of Crack Cocaine, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, along with attempt to manufacture Methamphetamine. Shadburn is charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Precursors, and attempt to manufacture methamphetamine. The Drug Charges lodged against the pair are enhanced because of the possession of the firearm.

This was a great job on the part of the Patrol Deputies initiating the case and the Narcotics Officers following up with the search. I am proud of all those involved in the case. No bond has been set at this time on either suspect.

On the morning of 01/14/2009 Prentiss County Narcotics Investigator Joey Clark arrested Jason D. Cutshall- 33, 41 Willow Lane, Belmont after a traffic stop in the Burton/Cairo area. Officers recovered a substantial quantity of methamphetamine and five firearms, three long guns and two handguns. Cutshall was charged with possession of controlled substance with the intent to sell or distribute. His bond was set at $5,000 and he was released on bond. Investigator Clark has done an outstanding job in the field of Narcotics and I am proud to have an employee that works as hard and selfless as he does.

On 01/12/2009, Daniel Gordon Corbett, age 24 , of 187 CR 1341 Booneville, was arrested on CR 1361 by Prentiss County Deputies and was charged with Attempted Grand Larceny in the attempted theft of a Craftsman riding lawn mower from a CR 1361 residence. He was caught in the act of the theft by the home owner and a relative and fled the scene leaving his truck behind. He was arrested a short time later, after returning for his truck. He remains in custody at this time awaiting an initial appearance.

On 12/23/2008, Prentiss County Deputies arrested Jody Deas age 35. Deas was a fugitive from the State of Florida and was also wanted in the State of South Carolina. Deputies arrested him on Ripley Road, Baldwyn without incident. Deputies used extra caution when making the arrest knowing that Deas had an extensive criminal history including violence against officers. He is being held without bond pending extradition back to Florida. The Sheriff's Department had received information, a tip, about Deas presence in Prentiss County the previous day, and contacted Florida and obtained a copy of the warrant.

On 01/01/2009 , Prentiss County Deputies arrested Samuel Dewayne Miller age 24 of CR 1210 Booneville after an attempted traffic stop and then a lengthy pursuit that lead into Tippah County and then back into Prentiss County before wrecking at the intersection of Hwy 4 and Dry Creek Road. He was charged with several misdemeanor crimes along with DUI third offense and Felony Fleeing. Miller's bond was set at $10,000 and was released Friday 01/02.

In the early morning hours of 01/02/2009, Prentiss County Deputies made a traffic stop in Baldwyn on 5th Street and arrested Tammi Gay Treadway age 40, whose current address is 1071 CR 183 Blue Springs. Treadway was wanted out of Texas on felony charges. She remains in custody awaiting extradition.

All these cases exemplify great work on the part of all the officers involved and they did a great job and no one was seriously hurt.
